What is the most sustainable brand of oysters in the world?
The employment situation and productivity of people with intellectual and mental disabilities has not improved much. Even if they want to work, they cannot work, and even if they do work, they are underpaid. They were unable to accumulate skills in simple assembly work or heavy labor, and in the end they were dependent on social security benefits.
At the same time, however, there are many businesses in many industries that are considering scaling back or closing down their operations due to a lack of labor and successors. Similarly, the number of manufacturers in the local oyster farming industry in Hiroshima, where Numata BASE is located, has been steadily declining due to a lack of labor.
Global demand for fisheries is growing rapidly. However, in Japan, the amount of fish caught and the number of producers is on a downward trend every year. I believe that this mismatch is “MOOTAINAI”, and I have started this initiative to resolve this mismatch.
There are many “MOTTAINAI” in the world.
A transport industry that emits a lot of costs and CO2 for things that are just thrown away.
Nearly 50% of new clothes being discarded without a sleeve.
Food being discarded without ever reaching the consumer.
Since it would be difficult to solve everything in a hurry, the business plan for this project is to connect the “MOTTAINAI” issues faced by the welfare industry, oyster farming, and the transportation industry.
People with disabilities get a place to shine and be productive with their characteristics.
Oyster farmers will save labor and money.
Transport companies reduce disposal costs and CO2 emissions and gain a place to contribute to society
This initiative has been briefly introduced in the past, so it will help you understand it better if you check it out as well.
